We look forward to seeing you again on 12-16 June 2024 for the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans with the return of some big-name manufacturers in Hypercar class : Alpine, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Peugeot, Porsche and Toyota.

PEUGEOT 24H LE MANS

With the start of the FIA World Endurance Championship looming large on the horizon, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies is entering the final straight of its preparations with renewed determination to continue the progress shown last term.

Stoffel Vandoorne’s integration for last September’s Fuji round gave the team hierarchy food for thought regarding the make-up of the trios sharing the wheel of the two Peugeot 9X8s. In a WEC Hypercar field that is shaping up to be ultra-competitive this season, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies is looking to fine-tune the most minute details.

The squad is backed up by reserve driver Malthe Jakobsen. The talented young Dane was hired as the team’s junior driver in 2023 and will continue his apprenticeship during this campaign. After the Prologue in Qatar on 24-25 February, the drivers will make their official race début together on 2 March – also in Qatar – in the opening round of the 2024 FIA WEC season.

Le Mans wants hydrogen-only top class by 2030

Unfortunately, things are complicated. An initial idea was to race electric cars with zero emissions and high horsepower. They'd have it all...except for the noise of internal combustion engines fans love.

Also, the evolution of batteries remains insufficient, with two major flaws: too heavy and still take much too long to recharge. All attempts to change those features have failed so far. Formula E (the FIA World Championship for 100% electric single-seaters) rounds are never longer than one hour, so a solution for a 24-hour race remained elusive.

An alternative had to be found, and engineers turned to hydrogen.

Ford Mustang GT3

The German team intends to field two Ford Mustang GT3s in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship in the new LMGT3 category.

Proton Competition has announced the following crews for its Ford Mustangs: Ryan Hardwick, Zacharie RobichonandBen Barkerwill share the#77. Giorgio Roda, Mikkel PedersenandDennis Olsenwill drivethe#88.

In the LMGT3 category, Ford will take onBMW (Team WRT), Ferrari (Vista AF Corse), McLaren (United Autosports), Chevrolet Corvette(TF Sport), Lamborghini (Iron Lynx andIron Dames), Lexus (AKKODIS ASP Team), Porsche (Manthey EMA andManthey PUREXCING) andAston Martin (Heart of Racing Team andD’STATION Racing).
